As a former employee and someone who shops there a lot I would say that Walmart is in the first stages of decline. They have done a lot of reorganizing and are really over doing it on store openings. They have opened two supercenters within a 25 mile radius of the existing store in my town in the last two years. That hurt the stores business and really killed some of the key business that the one in my town depended on. So I really believe that Walmart is in the first stages of decline.

Walmart is betting big on emerging markets. Walmart will open its first store in New delhi, India. In US, walmart sale may stagnate or decline but in india the show has just begun.

My Grandma worked at Wal-mart, and when we found out she had cancer they treated her pretty crapy. She was high up in the company, at her store. but when she came back from leave, she had to start from the bottom. so she just quit. they were racest to white, and just flat out stupid.

They do have a high turn around... my MIL works there, she says most people that work there have been there 10+ years or under 2 years...

Wal-Mart is doing alot of reorganizing at the home office in Bentonville Ar. They have cut several senior excutive positions and entry level positions. They claim that they have cut store openings by 2000 for the rest of this year and next. Who knows.

One of the many things I hate about wal-mart is how they portray this image of small town Americana but then they go about shutting down all the "real" American type stores.

I can't argue with your annalist of walmart, it is a good investment. It used to be my favorite store. Now it creeps me out knowing that they are watching me when I'm in the store and they keep costs low by not having enough people at the checkout thus forcing you to use the self checkout line. You all know how I feel about the future of meaningful jobs in this country for the future generations coming up through the ranks so I won't go on that rant. Shocked Confused

Playboy magazine had a very good article about Wal-Mart. I can't remember the name of the article but it was very good. They have a "cult type status" in their hometown of Bentonville, Arkansas.
