We have money taken out of our checking account, automatic debt to a savings account every payday. This is good for things like vacations or emergencies...

Brown bag it everyday to work ,you save a bundle that way too!!

I second Blueberry's lunch recommendation. Since I have started bringing my lunch (my husband lives close enough to eat at home) I have saved a bundle of money. Also, when I grocery shop I really try and shop the sales and plan my meals around that.

we try to save on little extras...brown bagging lunch instead of eating out etc. and piling any savings each month on our mortgage.
