Being that I want to be a landlord, I figure now is the time to start and learn basic home construction and repairs. Does anyone know where I can take up a few courses? Junior college perhaps? Question

Mabe you should see if a hardware stor owner or construction person can help you out, may cost you but if you take notes you dont have to worry about remembering. Community colleges cost alot now Too, so way out your options!!!

Your best (easiest) option would be to take the free weekend classes at the hardware store, Home Depot, Lowe's etc. Most landlord related stuff is easily covered there. The college courses usually go into more detail than you will need. If you don't mind doing that then go ahead. But easy stuff like replacing a sink or a lock or patching a wall can easily be learned for free on the weekends. If the A/C breaks chances are you will need to hire someone.

Also a great resource is watching those flip this house type shows. That is the best learning next to actually doing. I can't always watch it because whenever I see someone blowing their budget, which most do, buying top of the line stuff and granite countertops I get so Shocked Mad Mad Mad Mad . It's the same as stocks keep your emotions at home.

definately second the home depot route. Free classes and usually a lot of friendly clueless people there. You'll probably meet a couple other landlords as well
