First remove about 2 rows of the shingles along the bottom edge of the steep part. Use a flat bar to pry up the shingles a little, then pull out the roofing nails. Keep these shingles close for re-installation.
Now start applying your rolled roofing on the flat area. When you get to the last roll at the top make sure it is wide enough to go up under the remaining last shingle row in place. Now apply roofing cement along the the new roll roofing that is tucked up under the shingles. Then re-apply a row of shingles by lifting up the tabs and tucking the shingles up in place and nailing them.
