I am thinking of doing this. Buying apartment buildings and putting them up for rent. I am not sure if it is a good idea but what do you guys think?

Its kinda good, because it you have quite a few of them, then you can get a steady income offa them. IF there nice apartment buildings, hey you may not have to work agen, if you buy alot of them. They rent out for riddiculous prices

I may be purchsing a home in the near future, which I will rent out for extra income. I am not thinking about multiple homes, just this one because it will be a good opportunity to but the home at a reduced cost. I just do not have the time of the handy-man skills needed.

I know about renting a home. I had a nice home, in a nice sub-division. I screened the applicants well. I wanted to "know" the people would treat the property as if it were their own. (Ha.) We did have some nice tenants.

But some were doozies.

Sometimes I think I've seen it all. From people you wouldn't expect. Nice people (so it seemed), held a job consistently, good references, family people. Good grief. Shoe marks on the ceilings. New carpets trashed. Appliances --- you get the picture.

And be prepared for the "dry" period where it may be difficult to rent. It was feast or famine. Finally, we decided to sell. Made some great improvements and sold for a terrific gain.

Now if I were ever inclined to rent, I'd think again and just buy to fix up and sell. Less hassle and great return on investment.

I like the apartment rental idea. I'm sure it would be headaches as well, but I think the potential is there to make some $$$
