Have you gone nuts???
Where do you think he should get the 500$ every month. Why should the Admin use 500 bucks of his own money on a stock market game? Give him the money and I'm sure he will be more than happy to raise the award.
Secondly, what do you have against the reaper? If you have a personal grudge against him you should use pm. Confused
BTW it's avatar not avitar.

Well a $500 prize would be nice. I'd like a broker to sponsor us for an account with some starting cash, that would be cool. We'd give them free advertising, but so far I don't think we're big enough to get their interest. So far with the $50, advertising, and other costs I take a slight loss every month, but it's a lot of fun so I don't mind. The prize money is payable via Paypal by the way.

If anyone has a relative who works for a Broker let them know about us!

As far as the reaper goes I don't think he was knocking him so much. The Reaper knows he isn't always very popular, but gives his honest opinions on the "Mawkets". I'm surprised more don't challenge him, but maybe that means he is more right than wrong. Wink

A lot of Sims start off with a ton of cash like that.

I dunno though, how many people really have that much to start?

I could up it somewhat, but earning through posting makes it much more interactive.

If I buy 25 Shares of XYZ for my Portfolio on 10/11/05 I will pay for Shares @ Market + a $10.00 Fee. OK, but I do the same order the next day. Now I have 50 Shares of XYZ and $20.00 in total fee cost. Now I want to Sell 50 Shares of XYZ my fee will be charged $20.00 Rolling Eyes not $10.00. Please adjust Portfolio fee.
Thank You Very Happy

Good point, if you have the same stock purchased 5 different days they are in your portfolio as 5 different transactions. If you want to sell them all you'd have to pay the commission on each of the trades.

Since we want to keep the transactions seperate so you can see the purchase prices of each it would be difficult to pull this off.

Until we come up with a solution let me know when this happens and I'll refund the $10. It's the honor system though!

I guess I should have added the choice that 1000 e$ is way to little to start off with.

If everone agree's maybe I'll bump it up to 3k.

(Of course anyone that wants them would get 2000 e$ if your already a member because you saw this post) Wink

Well I think the market game is a huge addition, and is likely a major draw to the site. Hopefully in the future, it can be worked to include stops and limits, as well as clumping stocks together after multiple purchases (under the one heading of the stock, but showing seperate transactions).

I would say the main weakness in the board is the lack of posting. There are a lot of members, but not many of them will actively participate in the topics.

I think that with additions to the market game we will see more members, and perhaps more importantly, more active members in the forums. Give them the features to test with a slightly more realistic market, and I think the discussions will take care of themselves.

If a tracking system is implemented that can chart the % gain or loss of a user's portfolio of several months, or show the average monthly gain/loss (this would be viewable by other forum members), we could more easily identify users who may require advice, or users who can offer advice. Longterm success for users could also give them access to a higher title which recognizes their relative expertise, or another restricted board for more advanced investing discussions.

I know it's a lot, but I think the main draw to the site at the moment is definitely the game, because the forum is not immensely active. If we build on that strength, the influx of interested new users should keep the forum humming. Alternatively if you raised the prize, or had variety of prizes for different accomplishments I think the effect would be the same, though more short term (people would want the money, not to learn about investing). Overall I think einvesting is moving in the right direction, and I hope to see continued growth. Smile

I voted for forum inactivity.

i am new here but so far it seems like there are not many people posting. I will try to spread the word as much as I can.

And I do agree that starting with $1000 is much more realistic...at least in my world...

It is a little hard to sift through the different post. The rewards could be higher but at the current levels it makes it more realistic Shocked I would be happy to get paid $100 for writing a few words in the real world. $10 fees in reality wouldn't be bad either. We can exchange ideas, information and maybe help each other become better investors through the posts. Putting thoughts into words isn't easy and some people are afraid they might sound silly or what ever Embarassed

Thanks for the kind words. Cool

Maybe some people that are in the red don't want to post because they would be embarressed to have a BIG RED -34% by their name. Embarassed

Maybe a lot of pro's don't post for this reason too. If you show a bad % why would anyone ever listen to you?

Ah, but if your well in the black, why wouldn't they!?

Maybe we should call this Investing-PutUp-Or-ShutUp.com. Razz

Two things possibly might help. First raise the original portfolio amount, eg $5000, and give some e$'s for refering the site to friends.

Thanks,
