Oct. 12th
Since the winners this month will be the best and worst portfolio thought I'd list the leaders again. I'll start updating this again every once in a while for discussion purposes.
1 lachriz 15.79%
2 Tru2daVi3t 13.60%
3 madoda 11.08%
1 Samildanach -51.36%
2 splink -51.19%
3 bullet69proof -41.96%
Tight race for the bottom!
I'm all for making only active posters be able to win money. It would be fun to hear from all these guys. |

| I have only been in the game for 2 days, but I may catch them if this stock I bought with play money recovers to what I paid in real money several days earlier (still down 18% after nice bounce yesterday and unchanged today). I just started investing 2 months ago, and still need to learn patience to reserve some cash for opportunities instead of jumping on when they are hot. |

Warren might say good the more money and liquidity the better. That's what I say anyway.
Seems wrong we are rewarding the biggest losers. If I understand correctly the % did not reset. Thus, they were losing and our now gaining from their inability to pick stocks. That seems entirely wrong.
Could it just be a factor of your increase since October 1.
If you were up 10% and are now up 25% your gain is 15%
That seems to make much more sense.
Please don't argue that the bottom dwellers have now been strategizing to lose money for 10 trading days. The principal of the game was and is to make money. Though you might argue they are playing as short sellers. Still the original purpose was to reward one monthly winner. The top gainer.
Seems the % made in October could be figured mannually or by the nice gentleman agreeing to post the leaders.
My % is not relevant today I was up .005% day 1 and now down -5%.
I'm testing a long term strategy though, verse the costs and risks of buy and sell fees and the time invested to study and guess the entry & exit of each position. While this might not win the $50 monthly prize I'm more interested in the real stock returns. |

Further, it could artificially reward those that lose unintentionally.
For instance, I'm going for % return in the positive. yet I'm in the negative as of yesterday for 1 day only I predict.
Now if my months results truned out to be total loses, you are saying that should be rewarded? It skews everything because suddenly an unintentional loser or winner has a chance to rally in the opposite direction.
Just does not seem to make sense. |

| The % posted by MrInvestor are this months gains/losses, not overall. |

Super Investor, ok did they know from day one that this month would be based on big winner & big loser.
Plus, it still makes a winner of a losing position.
As of the 1st they were losing.
Now we say ok if you keep losing and losing well then you get rewarded. Does not seem to make sense.
My point is if they gain from there negative to a positive that could be recorded.
Thus, was -25% and is now only -5%
see what I'm saying. |

This was just done since the monthly reset didn't happen this month. It's really important to the competition that it is reset every month.
If I must I'll try to figure out how to do it manually. We want to reset it, but still keep the numbers in there so one day we can show your overall performance since you joined and not just the current month thats always reset for the next competition. Maybe this is a pipe dream and we should give it up and just do a hard reset every month.
Let me know your thoughts. |

I think the system should
1. Should not list or pay the biggest % gainers with out at least 10 post per month on average
2. Give e$ to the top 5 worst portfolios but not the top 5
3. Don't split the $50 to the top and bottom portfolio's
4. Should have the total progress chart..and current month progress chart. (Add an extra column for current month thats all and add some more variables to code..)
5. Should have correct calculations of each of our portfolios.
6. Have the ability to share your portfolio...if you want |

Yeah but...sharing my idea is a little different... you see sharing would keep it open to your friend so everytime you make a change you dont have to post it or pm it...Or it could be setup to compare two portfolios... but i dont want to get into that now... Next
edit:: of course be turned on turned off if you'd like... sorry I dont feel like writing a whitepaper... |

What happens on a reset? If the reset works. Do my stocks cost become of the initial trading day of the month and then gain or lose return % from there?
Please advise.
