Hi guys, I would like to buy stocks, but I’m not sure where to start. Is there any one can help answer any or all of these questions? Your help will be appreciated.
1- State Discount Broker, ING Direct, Fidelity Investment, TradeKing, Scottrade, TD Ameritrade, OptionsXpress, E*trade, Zecco, MB Trading, and more…
What do you call these kinds of trading companies or Brokers?
2- What is the different between them or the service might provide?
3- All of the trading companies deal with all stock, bound… etc, in the market, or some deal with certain stock, bonds…etc?
4- Why the trading price and other fees are vary from one to the other?
5- Are they all secured?
6- What will happen if the trading agency closed down, do you lose your stock?
7- Are you able to obtain an official certificate shows your stock you bought and use it any time even if that agent closed down?
8- Which of these to you prefer to deal with, and why?
9- Any website can show and sorts stock market by Company name and/ or Stock Symbol ?
10- What website can show you the change in the stock for certain company in years or months period?
11- If you like to chose stock, can you find out what this compnay work is on, and company credit / bond rating?

Personally I use Scottrade for my trading.
Most of the companies you listed are known as discount brokers.
Most of the features are pretty close to the same with these. Commissions and account minimums will vary but really there are not a lot of differences. You can get better details from each on their websites. They usually list a breakdown of their features and pricing.

With Scottrade you can trade stocks, bonds, cds, etfs, mutual funds, and more. INGDirect uses Sharebuilder, but that service is really limited for trading.

Some like Zecco are super cheap, but really lack on information and extras. TDAmeritrade and E*Trade have lots of neat features, but cost more. I found Scottrade to be a good middle ground for my trading. Of course I also using an additional program to assist with trading. It keeps me logged in, so I don't get timed out during the day.

I fairly sure most of the online brokers are as secure as they can be. I haven't had any problems myself. If a trade site closed you would not lose your stocks, though you would probably need to have them send you physical certificates for them. Of course when you buy you do get confirmations of your stocks. The broker is only handling your trades. You are also covered by the broker, sort of like a bank- at least most would be this way. Your losses from failed trades are not covered...

You can get the stock certificates mailed to you, most brokers will charge for this service.

I'm not sure what you are asking on question 9...

All of the above sites should give you basic information and price history on companies.

Your last question should be covered as well.

If you are interested in Scottrade, the commissions are $7 a trade for most and the minimum to open an account is $500.
If you decide you want to use Scottrade let me know, I can send you a referral and get us both free trades.

Greetings.

I've been checking some online traders, like scottrade and e*trade but I still didn't get a clue if they accept foreign investors or not.

Does anyone have a clue about this?

Regards,

Antonio

I've been checking gnutrade but I got the impression that is deals only in the variations of market, not stocks.

Did I miss something?
