GM is being destroyed by the leadership(?) in this country.
First by the private sector that being the "board" and Wagoner.
Then our fearless(brainless, spineless) political leaders. We should not have bailed out the financial's anymore than we should bailout the auto industry..

I could not agree more Sir. The CEO of GM only did what he was paid to do. Build a vehicle that the American consumer would buy, and build it at a profit IN SPITE of all the bed wetting screaming liberals who snivel about pollution while talking on lithium powered cell phones driving their SUV's to the gas station. I believe many of these folks are the same ones who want me to save them from "The Big Bad Mortgage Company".

Hey, if you lost your job through no fault of your own...you bet...I'm willing to help...no problem. Count me in. But if you just lost your a_s in the market because you believed the fairy tale of "this will go on forever"... I have another story for you...it's called "Get a clue you moron!"

I notice tonight's headline is about the new CEO of GM saying "Bankruptcy is Still an Option. " Mmmm...talk about union busting at the highest levels! Talk about sucking up! He must REALLY like that new office!

So...Ok, let's get this right out front....

Hang on a minute Mr CEO, let me dig for a quarter....so you can call somebody who gives a sh_t! You and AIG, BAC, COF, C, and the rest of the Looney Tunes gang.

GET OFF MY NEWSPAPER, GET OFF MY NEWS PROGRAM AND MOSTLY....GET THE H_LL OFF MY TAX DOLLAR! ALL OF YOU!!!! You're BURYING my children and grandchildren....and frankly you're REALLY getting on my nerves!

Get a life! Get a brain...GET A CLUE!!! You DON'T loan money to someone who doesn't have a pot to p_ss in, much less a downpayment. You DON"T write loans based on unverified credit apps (Are you so naive' that you actually BELIEVED everybody?)....AND YOU DON'T BUILD A CAR THAT THE CONSUMER WANTS AND IS WILLING TO PAY FOR!

Hmmmm-what's wrong with those last words? Idea

SOMEBODY has made a great deal of money the last 8 years, and I have a hunch they all vote Republican (full disclosure: I'm a registered Republican, just not particularly proud of it)

I KNOW FOR CERTAIN IT WASN'T ME...AND I'M PRETTY SURE IT WASN'T MY NEIGHBOR. 'Cause him and me are still busting our b_tts making a living so we can pay taxes to cover for dipsticks and their busted policies/business plans.

While I am no supporter of the UAW, I do hurt for the folks who are caught in the middle right now. I just hope they are not so angry and disappointed and discouraged that they walk away. Many of them are pretty talented folks....and we need them!

Yes, I agree. The CEO should have remained until such time as the stockholders and board of directors said otherwise. On this one....yes...I think we goofed. Rolling Eyes

Greetings.

I do not contest that my views may be biased in result of wrong media coverage, but for us in Europe there is the impression that the greatest problem with GM was one of technological obsolescence, considering the economical and environmental problems.

For us, the rule is a car like an Audi or a Mercedes, average class, to spend 1.5 gallons of diesel or gas per 60 miles. A litre of diesel costs about 1.4 USD and a litre of gas costs about 1.8 USD (Portugal prices). Which means, a gallon od diesel costs almos 5 USD and a gallon of fuel costs about 8 USD. Prices in the UK or France, for instance, are higher. The world changed. 8L or 6L engines can't compete with 2L, 4 cylinder engines which burn less than half fuel than a regular american car.

A few cabs in Lisbon are Chrysler. They are nice looking but the interior is of an awful low quality, when compared to german, italian or french or even japanese cars.

In such a scenario, it's impossible to compete in the world stage. And if you can't stay competitive there you just won't survive.

My two cents.

Regards,

Antonio
