Thanks, that really does mean something to me to hear you say that. I know there are holes, but there is a lot of potential there too.

No, I don't think that's the case.
The code to get the quotes from Yahoo was public domain, so that can be reused. The phpBB software is open source, as are some of the various modifications (specifically the Cash MOD) that were used for the site. But the custom code related to the simulator was "work for hire" and therefore not public domain or open source code, and I cannot in good faith simply turn around and sell it to someone else. That would be up to JRW to decide. |

I see..
All do respect, ive emailed and PM'd this JRW and have yet to recieve a reply of what the price is to take einvesting off his/her hands.
What happens if the domain gets discontinued? (I mean the software for Einvesting)
I understand that when the domain gets abandoned i can swoop in and take it but without the software it will be just an empty name. |

If the domain is truly abandoned it will come up for auction / reissue in November of 2009 according to the current "whois" database records. At that point I would consider working with the new owner as far as the code for the simulator and site.
I suspect that JRW won't let it get that far. I also suspect that if nothing else gets his attention, the lack of income from google or other ads placed on this site when it's shut down at the end of the month will serve as a wake-up call. |

No way in hell that einvesting.com would actually go through the whole drop process. It will get picked up by a drop catcher. Which one depends on what registrar einvesting.com is registered with. Either way if it does "drop" it will be bid after in the drop auction. I would assume the name alone will fetch $x,xxx if drops.
You might want to lookup the whois data for the name and call the phone number that is there. It has to be a legit number or the name can legally be dropped. |

Domain owners can also enroll in privacy protection services. I haven't check to see if JRW has done so (might not be a bad idea) but if you look up any of my domains you won't find my information. The registration information is valid, of course, it just can't be seen by a standard "whois" command. |

That is true that you can get privacy protection services. I used to have a lot of that back when I used to own a bunch of porn names |

| The "whois" data reported an additional email address, so I am trying that. We'll see what happens. Given that it's a new email address I will keep the board up for another few days to see if JRW responds. |

I was able to get a response from JRW using the email address on the "whois" database. Based on his initial response the site will be up for another week. We'll see where it goes from there. |

He's still active on his club-tc website (advertised at the bottom of the page). It looks like one of the other advertised websites was also 'let go'.
I don't understand why he doesn't sell it. I imagine he has his reasons for giving up on us but to just let it go is incomprehensible to me.
Why would you just throw away thousands of dollars. Selling for a loss is better than a total loss. |

I've exchanged a few emails with him now, so at least the lines of communication are open. We're talking about hosting options and longer term plans for the site, so that's a positive development.
Stay tuned for details. |
