Market fell 486 points today. Now that reality will set in for the big boys that the higher taxes are coming, wont there be serious reduction in capital investments, and isn't every big wall street player going to dump their stocks before the end of the year, in order to take the capital gains tax at a lower rate, cause they know their taxes are going to increase next year? Is this the change Obama is talking about.

| good post. it is always interesting to see different predictions on how obama will change. It will be interesting to see what he says today....i am not suggesting this or condoning it....but if he comes out and takes 401ks or taxes them....i think their might be an uprising and if someone pops him we are gonna havea civil war |

i can only hope he is just like every other politician and doesn't keep his word. what he plans to do would destroy the country.
if that does happen at the end of the year then i'm buying... long hold positions that is. |

There is no doubt that we need some change but it can't come as an attack on the powers to be (ie. I.S.) that will never be a win situation for the common people. Possibly an increase to take back what W gave wouldn't be too bad. How many of us really benefited from that 2001 $500.00? or that last stimulus (gas price gouge) we will have to pay that back anyway.
The agenda should be...
1. straighten out the financial mess. ie jobs by improvements to infrastructure return taxes to pre-W levels. reward corps. that provide meaningful jobs and tax the corps that move off shore.
2. health care
IMHO
God Bless America |

| i agree with frusnak, we do some change... to an extent, and their may be some things that are not efficient or operating correctly, but there is no need to to turn washington upside down in the hopes of fixing a problem...as for why we elected a person like this....i think it is because he appealed the masses....he was being spokesperson for the unwealthy, and it worked.....the majority of america makes under 32000 a year. |

History shows civilizations don't last for ever, they rise and fall. United States had a good run for 232 years, what more can you ask for. It is now time for Change! |

Ok, sorry, just can't pass THAT one up Contrary to the Headlines of every Tabloid in town...this country did NOT fall out of "The Biggest Economy" Category. Nor did we fall out of the "Most technologicaly advanced" position, and we CERTAINLY did not go backwards on our #1 in space exploration. Not to mention the most generous and giving country in the world.
What we DID do is get a bit big for our britches, live above our means, and had about a 5 year party. Ok...the party's over, now we clean up the mess, and get back to normal life.
As for 232 years and now it's over...well...I've been to many countries of the world, and though some are just as "hyper active" as we are (Germany), just as micro management as our WORST supervisors (Japan), and just as layed back as we can be on St Patty's day (Greece, Italy)...none of them have the depth....the full flavor...of the American culture. There are some brilliant folks out there! There are some phenomenal companies. But when push comes to shove and the feathers hit the fan, where do they run? American Gov't Securities and the (In God We Trust) American Dollar.
We ain't perfect, and we all know we have plenty of room for improvement the next couple of years...but we've got the best thing going so far.
Ya' think it's over? He he he...the fun has only begun! |

It's a bot trying to keep his spam on top but little does he know that this site is dead.
Typically mods would delete posts like that pretty quick |

Well, well, well....hello T-Bag! Long time no see!
Yes, the site's a bit quiet, but the "hard core's" are still here I think we shook out the "sunshine investors", and are down to "The Real Meal Deal" folks now.
So...are you on the sidelines, or in kicking and scratching?
I'm sitting with everything liquid, finger on the trigger, but just can't get a bead on the target. I just about get the sights lined up...and we take another leap into "stupid land". For me, I'd like to see us put the last leg on the "W" we're drawing on the charts...so we can get on with business. But, it seems there's still some gamblers out there...so guess we'll just have to wait until they bust.
Meantime though, I'm home getting spoiled by my Mrs, and putting weight on like there's no tomorrow! I'm beginning to understand the saying "Who needs a six pack when you've got the whole keg!" I don't turn on the fan in the bathroom now...just so the mirror will be sure and fog up. It's just easier that way LOL
Have a GREAT Holiday Season....and don't be so scarce, eh? |

heh, kinda like the economy... it seems even the mods jumped ship...
I guess I'm on the sidelines getting ready.
Besides the stuff that incurs penalties I had to liquidate just about everything early in 07 due to 'irregular' income. My industry, architecture, is dead and my company is just getting by. So I try to maintain several months of 'survival' money in savings and CD's in the event that I'm liquidated. |
