Let's all join this contest and keep each other up to date with our trades. Hopefully this year it will not be hacked.

http://www.cnbc.com/id/24351856

Game/Trading starts on May 12. $900,000 to trade stocks, $100,000 to trade currencies. Pehaps a contest of our own?

The contest will be won by someone with only 4 highly risky stocks making up their entire portfolio. I don't think it will reflect how you should actually invest.

Last year you can just buy 1 stock for the whole 1M. This time you can only buy a max of 25% for each stock for the whole $900,000 and 100% of the remaining $100,000 in currencies.

I highly recommend people who frequently watch CNBC stop, and see if it improves their health.

Oh well, I started with 5 portfolios. 4 are in positive territory. Biggest stock pick so far is CSIQ which I sold right away after it went up 20%. However, I thought of holding on to it instead for one more day but the market closed before I could retract my sale. Biggest loser picks are FOSL and VSE which I also sold right away which dropped 8%.

The top 10 leaders are making 12-15% for the first day! My best portfolio is making 4.7% which will be down today because of JBX (-10%). How can I beat those bastards?!

FSIN i could have bought yesterday to offset JBX but I ran out of time to fill in my order (too busy at work you know). And am upset for missing it because it jumped 14% today...aarrgh! Of all the stocks today I looked FSIN is the one eligible stock that gained the most. Others below it are, CVLT (13%), WX (10.5%),and FRE (9.2%).

I'm not sure if you can buy stocks under $5 because when I entered BBI, they will not accept it. It is over 500M in market cap and average volume is way over 10000 but CNBC doesn't specify the minimum price of a stock you can trade. BBI was even recommened by Fast Money for this contest. However, ETFC trades below $5 and they will accept it. Go figure.

FYI, my biggest gainer today is YGE at 11.71%

This Chandrahasan has moved up from 2nd to #1 and Phillips leaped from tenth to #5.

4. LVLT 3.28 3.12 5.13%
5. F 8.17 8.14 0.37%

It seems that most people are buying low priced stocks. BBI is also below $5 but I couldn't buy it the other day before earnings. Fast Money recommended it for this game but CNBC doesn't think it's eligible for some reason. As of 5/15 my best return is 9.2% which is good for 3576th.

Biggest gainers today are (eligible stocks):
SOLF 23.66%
ZOLT 16.86%
AAP 12.07%
TDS 10.54%

Sadly I only have AAP in that group or I would have gained 15.78% today if I held all four. All these stocks are trading above $20.

I'm actually playing the earnings game on all my portfolios. They mostly hold different stocks. I buy max of 4 stocks and then sell them right away to buy a different 4 stocks. My best portfolio made 11% last week while the rest are just above 6%. I changed my strategy a bit which proved costly as dry bulk shippers took it in the shorts today. I have 50% of DRYS and EXM in all of my porftfolios thinking that dry bulk shipping will jump today. It did the exact opposite even though EXM beat estimates this morning while DRYS is expected to beat views this afternoon. People are selling off on their earnings, so my rankings will drop tonight. I didn't sell for I am expecting both stocks to recover tomorrow. So Vetelmo, how are you doing so far? The #1 player made 32% last week, that's tough to beat.

I may have to change strategies in a couple of my portfolios but I doubt i can even make the top 100. Alternative energy did very well today mainly ethanol stocks. O&G are big movers too.

Biggest stock gainers today:
VSE +18.74%
ENS +13.76%
SCSC +11.95%
MTZ +11.92%
TRMA +10.72%
SOLF +10.25%
