This year has already provided a couple of surprises. Michican and Notre Dame, for example. They meet this coming weekend and both are 0-2. 
LSU has looked really good, but it's hard to know this early in the season if Virginia Tech was that bad, or LSU was that good. (LSU won their battle of the top-10's 48-7 last weekend, and made VT look like they didn't know how to play defense.)
USC has only played one game.
On the radio the other day, one commentator was suggesting that no polls be released until four games have been played. The BCS (Computer) poll already does that. What do you think, good idea? Bad idea? Don't care?  |

| Sounds like a good idea to me. I doubt that will happen but I would like to see that. While I was watching the LSU Vs. Va Tech game on ESPN, I was amazed at the commentators blatant biased attitudes toward LSU. They were still saying USC was the better team. The only way to shut these blow holes up is to play USC and introduce them to the SEC defense! |

LSU has - at least as far as it seems right now - a somewhat favorable schedule. Last season they played 4 top-10 teams on the road and split the games 2-2. (LSU ended 10-2 and ranked #3 in the nation.) This year LSU gets their toughest opponents at home. The next big test should be Florida, although Auburn lost this weekend they typically play LSU tough as well.
I don't follow PAC-10 football, so all I know about USC is what I have read. One thing I can say is that I highly doubt that the top 2 teams that we have today will be the top 2 teams come bowl season.
How about Oklahoma? Are they as good as their ranking, or have they benefited from weak oppontents? |

| I think just about every other conference plays weak opponents. I don't see how anyone can argue the point that the SEC has the strongest teams. If you go undefeated in the SEC, thats pretty tough to do. |

I think you would get arguments from some, but not from me.  I think from top to bottom the SEC has some of the strongest teams in the country. I think the polls recognized that last year when they voted LSU #3 in the country even with two losses, given the schedule that they played. You flip-flop a couple of plays during the Florida / LSU game and it might have been LSU drubbing Ohio State in the championship game last year.  |

Well, they get USC at home, but USC seems to travel well. Nebraska didn't look great in beating Wake Forest, but it's hard to know if that was Wake Forest having more talent or Nebraska struggling. One review I read was very critical of Nebraska's effort last week.
I would view this as yet another early-season test that won't show much. If USC wins, they're expected to win. If they win but struggle, is USC over-rated or Nebraska that good?
Ask again in a couple of weeks. Based on what I have read (have not seen either team play yet) I would pick the favorite and go with USC to win at Nebraska. |

I would predict that USC wins big over Nebraska.
USC is slightly over rated but they are still a powerful team with a strong defense. |
