When a stock splits, the price drops in half, but are we not supposed to receive a doubling in the number of shares we own? KMX recently split, and my portfolio simply registered it as a 50% loss.

I would think it would be easy to see when it split, yahoo lists the last split for stock KMX as spliting 2:1 on 3-27-07.
