Hello there:
What is what make you decide to buy?
I think this stock simulator is fantastic, cause give you the realistic opportunity to try and test your decision, without wasting one cent.
But even before making the desicion to buy some shares, I strongly recomend you to take at least 20 minutes to review, the company, the stiker price, the MOS, and the different iformation you can obtain about that company. Consider that if you are going to but some shares is because you are intherested in their business. Once you buy some shares you buy, you become owner of a piece of that business. Think that you need to understan this business before you buy.

While I definitely agree that you need to understand the company and its operations before you invest, I would say it takes much more than 20 minutes to review. Three hours is probably a minimum for me... |

| I just buy based on the news and what seems to be hot at the moment, which obviously isn't the best way to do it. |

Actually, I am doing some research now that suggests buying "strong" stocks that are up a sizable amount in the last couple days is actually one of the worst investment strategies you can follow. If/When I make some significant conclusion, I'll post the results on this site. |

Awesome, that's half my strategy. I've been looking around a little for another that fits me but so far this is the most convienent for me.
I follow a TA strategy I read some time ago, I forgot half of it and don't use that half anyway, the two mainstays of the strategy are unusual volume rise and near its 52 week high. I look at a few other things such as insider ownership etc then make a buy no buy decision, the whole process takes just a few minutes for each stock.
I have noticed that it's like riding a bull, it can swing wildly and I don't know when that will happen. If you've noticed my numbers over the past you'll see that some days I've been up 10%+ then within a few days been down -3%. But if I had the time to watch it, or if we had trailing stop loss orders I think I'd be ok.
This is basically what I've been doing since I got here, although I have tried out some other stuff none of it lasted very long. |
