I'm starting another puzzle to go along with my Math Challenges puzzle. I hope this one will be fun as well. Since I'm not sure how active the topic will be, I'm starting the prize money at e$500 and will move up if the topic gets active. If you haven't figured it out, the money I pay out in prizes in the math challenge is essentially the money that I get "paid" for posting the puzzles so there's no net out of pocket expense for me.

So what is this challenge? Simple. Smile I got my boys a USB microscope for Christmas last year, and it has three different magnification settings. I am going to take an item that is small enough to fit in the microscope and take a picture at 200X magnification and post it. You guess what it is. Smile The first correct guess wins e$500, with the potential to be more if the topic is active.

If nobody gets the item right away, ask for a hint. I might give one. Wink

After a few days at 200X magnification I will post an image at 60X magnification. After a while at that level, I will post something at 10X magnification. Hopefully someone will get the right guess at that point. If nobody does, I will post an image that will essentially give away the answer, and the first person to post will win the prize.

I hope this will be fun.

So, without further ado, here's your first "What Am I?" challenge picture:

200x Magnification

This picture shows a product made by one of the companies in the S&P 500 index. That's your first - if not very useful - hint. Razz

So far the only guess appears to be Grim, and unless a company in the S&P 500 has started making callouses, it's wrong. Razz

I'll let it run for a few more days before posting the next picture. It's interesting to me... and the inspiration for this contest was... how alike so many different things appear to be under 200X magnification.

Lemme know ifn I'm going in da right direction. This looks like it is made from a mineral that is flaky and pearlescent.....ifn I am on da right track, tell me the mineral it mostly consists of....and methinks I kin guess witout going to a lower magnification. Very Happy

This is an edible item, but it is not sugar.

It is not a mineral, as it is an organic item. Processed, but organic in nature. Smile

I have a little nephew now, and I've learned that anything is edible... Shocked

I honestly have no idea what that could be. Can we get a lower magnification?
