Has anyone else seen this site (http://www.yuminvestors.com)? Apparently PETA launched an international campaign against KFC and since then 8 out of 15 quarters have shown zero or negative same-store sales growth for KFC. Also, at the launch of the campaign (4 years ago), KFC said it wanted to have 8,000 U.S. restaurants, but since then, number has actually GONE DOWN by 80 (they’re still only at about 5,400). Lots of KFCs have closed following PETA protests. I know PETA has campaigned against a lot of other companies in the past and won, and it sounds like they will win this one too (apparently their anti-KFC activist network grew 245% last year). I would be willing to invest in this company after the campaign is over (looks like it costs the company only about 2 cents per meal to implement the technology PETA wants, and ROI would be reached very soon) but until then I am staying away from YUM! stock.

I like chicken and I hate PETA. The PETA people have too much time on their hands and should protest something worthwhile. Rolling Eyes

YUM is a solid company, not great, but the KFC-Taco Bell-Pizza Hut combination continues to deliver good results.

"only 2 cents per meal"
Considering how many "meals" this company serves each day, this "2 cents per meal" could be quite significant.

The fact that the person's first post directs us to a PETA sponsored website is just suspicious, and PETA people bother me for some reason.

I have a leather jacket (1 cow). My car has a leather interior (4 cows). I eat meat (yesterday, 10 ounces of chicken). Yum.

Does anyone have a feeling that the "245% growth" in the activist networks translates to something like 3 people becoming 10? Razz

Also, note how "Lindsay" hasn't come back to talk more about this pressing social topic... wait, its really irrelevant when you consider all the other things to worry about. Rolling Eyes
