I have been a member of ING for a little over a year and am wondering how EmigrantDirect compares. They always seem to have a little better interest rates, and now they are a lot better (regular account is .05% less than ING's best CD rate). Does anyone have any experience with them? I'd like a place to accrue my savings until I have enough to trade with. I have also been using Paypal's money market account, but ED seems to have a little better rates and is FDIC insured (for whatever that's worth).

Be VERY careful using paypal, if you are ever involved in a deal where the other party files a claim against you, right or wrong your account can be frozen, the funds refunded and possibly closed. There are horror stories a plenty of people not being able to retrieve their money even after paypal found them not at fault. Paypal lost a major court case over it a while back, but I frequantly still hear of problems in getting accounts reopened and moeny returned. I make it a point to never leave money in my paypal account and to alway pay through a credit card so that I have an option to fall back on in case of disputes. read through their terms of service and privacy policies, they are not a bank and do not act like one.

That is a good point. I wonder if it would be good if you opened the account simply for the money market and not things like eBay. Currently, they are at 5.09%.

Emigrant for a long time now has been higher or as high as other MM's that I have come across.
