Ok, I know what to do. Donate Ben some money every month so he wouldn't have to get it through advertising. Say, about 100$ this month for prizes alone? If that's not a problem for you, I'm sure you can work it out with him. Confused

Having the ads is fine, I think, but what the comment was about was the format. On some pages the ads are displayed left to right and don't take up that much space. On other pages they're displayed top to bottom, and you have to scroll down too much to get to the content. I've commented about that before myself. Razz

I think it should be fixed too... as soon as you get the chance to do so. The up-and-down make too much of a break from the top to the content, whereas the sideways ones are all easy to read and blend in alot better.

I keep seeing more and more forums blend them in and put them between comments, and I really appreciate that more then just throwing them at you at the top. This way you still have the up and down look. Through you have to scroll down some extra it seems to be more natural. But, that's just my two cents!

Sorry i misunderstood. Anyway, i do agree that the google ads arent in great position, they should be placed in areas to be blended in with the forum, such as instead of the google ads being at the top (in topic view) it can be under the first post of the topic, there is a mod for this as this is a phpbb forum.

I personally can't stand having ads interleaved with the content. Put them at the top or the bottom, but not in the middle of my topic. Just my two cents. Smile

I think it's better to keep the Google ads, so the forum owner gets income from the forum to pay the fees, give away prizes etc.

Regards.

Well the middle is supposed to be the hot spot, but I think too much in the way.

I have shrunk them down quite a bit, not so imposing. Since then the Click through rate has dropped from about 1.5% to .8% Sad

Oh well, the needs of the many...yada yada. Laughing

I think if you make it a incentive to click on the adds then people will click on them. for example you can make it 10e dolars for ever add they click. also I have Ideas on how to expand the website to more people. You should put in incentive for people to tell teir freinds about the website.
Like the Econimists say: People respond to incentives, everything else is commentary.
