| Does anybody have any experience with this website? I looked at it today. It has some neat calculators, but you have to pay a yearly fee to use them. I hate to pay to get out of debt. |

Before paying for advice on a website, why not take a look (and listen) to Dave Ramsey, the financial talk-show host whose #1 goal is for people to get out of debt. His website is www.daveramsey.com.
If your area radio stations carry him,he covers a lot of great advice daily. |

Ya, anything you have to pay for to get out of debt, is probably not a good idea
thats against the reasoning of trying to get out of debt |

I just spent a long time writing a reply on another thread that I think also applies here. The gist is that, if you are struggling to get out of debt, it is probably a result of your mental programming. The good news is, there is a way to change that programming:

| It sort of sounds like the people running that web-site are the cheapskates and are trying to get you to be a spendthrift. |

this is a basic idea how they operate.
first they set you up on a payment play, supposedly contact the lenders, get your payment lowered, then they collect your payments to them (not the lenders) and wait until they got six months of payments collect then try to offer the lender a one time settlement (did i mention that they are not paying the lenders the whole time they are collecting from you) minus their fee of course.
Easiest way out of debt is to pay more the your monthly payment- the extra amount goes to the principal not then interest, no this is not quick but that extra will save you $$$ in interests. That also means to sacrifice a
few luxory things - eating out, movies, cigarettes. Talk your self out those high dollar ticket items.
You should get a copy of your credit reports and dispute any mistakes that are accidently on your report- mispelled names, wrong addresses, states that you have not lived in and there is more. |

| The scammers know that typically people that are in dept like to spend money so they are trying to tap into that market of people in order to make some money. So steer clear of marketing scams. |

| I know when I lived in Utah they had a state agency that would do this same thing for free. It was set up to help people who were ready to file bankrupcy, and from what I heard it worked very good. They contacted the creditors and got some deal made and then you would pay the agency instead of the creditors. It was free. |

Don't walk...RUN to www.daveramsey.com
There are way too many scams out there. You don't need to pay somebody else to get out of debt. You need to either lower you outflow or increase your income. There are NO fast and easy solutions. It's plain hard work BUT you can do it!
It took me and my wife 7 long years to turn our lives around and dig out from over $50,000 worth of debt. Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University works! |

Dave Ramsay knows what he is talking about. Dave is one of the few people I have found that thinks like me. There aren't many people out there anymore that live debt free. If you talk about being debt free most people look at you like your some kind of freak. The U.S. government is just as bad and has done a good job of programming people to be slaves to society by living in debt. If you are in debt you are not truely free. |

I couldn't agree more. Also the lack of financial education is a major factor causing debt problems. |
