Nope, no RSS...I think there is a modification to add one, but I'd have to look into it.
Are you looking for posts or to have it feed your portfolio %? |

| I'd be most interested in posts for a specific category. I believe there is a phpbb mod called "RSS Content Syndicator" that can do this. |

| The last time I looked at any of the RSS MODs for phpBB they did not support security, meaning you can't log in. That would mean that you can only get public information (posts from public forums) and nothing related to your portfolio or any of the custom features. |

| You're probably right, but I would still find it useful for one to see new posts that are placed in the "Stock Research Center" everyday when I visit my Google homepage. I have rss feeds from about 5 different forums I like to visit all on my personalized Google homepage and I have come to find this convenient. I'm not sure if it would bog down your server however if a bunch of people starting using this so that might be something you would want to consider. |

| IT would be wicked sweet to have a RSS feed for our percentage. Like if it goes down or up over a percent. Or if it goes in the hole or gets out of the hole. |

The feed can certainly be written so that it doesn't bog down the server much. It's all in how the queries are written / optimized, and I'm good at that. One thing for Ben to decide is that an RSS feed effectively cuts down on the page views / ad impressions for the board, so he'll need to consider that before any actual decision is made.
Technically speaking, it's not too much of a challenge if all you want is a public forum. The RSS feed can even be limited to specific forums, and the feed could be cached or "fed" once every twenty minutes instead of on a "live" basis. So there are plenty of options.
There are always options, it's just a question of time. |
