Hey, Vetelmo is it OK for me to change my pick before the competition begins? (Since the sky is not falling.....yet) |
Actually, if you're a tracker of the big board, you will have noticed that May got off to a bumpy start, and the sky has started to crack. Yes...Chicken Little here with your doom and gloom report. May is a tough month in the best of years. With oil pegging the "greedmeter" and unemployment so low (can YOU spell inflation?) what choice do the Feds have? Anyone here have an A.R.M. mortgage? Care to comment on it's trend?
Real money... I'm out of the game. Total T-Bills and bonds. Not even pocket change in the market.
E-Dollars, I'm still dying with F. Yes Mr Frusnak, I hear you chuckling. But if (and I admit it's a long shot).... IF it turns out the way I think it may, I will expect a new car in the Virtual Store. A '68 Cobra would be worth easily a 100 grand. If this plays out right, I'll be able to afford it. And if not... we'll need a bicycle in the Virtual Store. Something less than a hundred bucks... 'cause I'm in deep
Good luck to all for May. I think I'll be sitting most of this one out. |

Escaping frequent fill ups.
Introduction
The Ford Escape is the best-selling compact sport utility vehicle in the United States. Now it's available in a hybrid version. And, no, you don't have to plug it in.
What is a hybrid? It's a vehicle that draws power from the combination of a traditional gasoline engine and an electric motor and special battery pack. The Escape Hybrid is the first such SUV available in the United States, and also the first hybrid with available all-wheel drive and 1000 pounds of towing capacity, and allows buyers to enjoy the benefits of a small SUV while greatly enhancing fuel economy and lowering emissions.
By combing a four-cylinder gasoline engine with the boost from the electric power pack, the 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid provides acceleration much like the regular Escape equipped with an optional V6 engine, but the Hybrid returns twice the fuel economy in city driving and nearly double on the highway.
Many people are pleasantly surprised to learn that hybrid vehicles such as the Escape never have to be plugged into any sort of electrical outlet. The vehicle's battery pack is automatically recharged by the gasoline engine and by regenerative braking, technology that takes the otherwise wasted energy generated by braking and sends it to the battery pack.
Benjamin/Dave: Feel free to retract the posting bucks on this one, I'm not "spamming for dollars", just making sure that anyone interested is aware that Ford is a long way from dead (and still making a profit I might add).
Just think if you were William Clay Ford Jr (COB, CEO) your holdings would look like-
FORD MOTOR CO
Chairman
NYSE:F
31-Mar-06 5,937,918 Direct
1. Every dollar that Ford goes down costs you $5,937,918.00
2. Your family and your heritage are on the line
3. What would YOU be doing? Me, I'd be getting ready to kick some Japanese Boofoo.
History tells us that Ford fights best when they're up against the wall. The next 6 months will tell the story, and I for one will be watching. |

LOL, I will never ever buy a Ford again. Well wait, I will if it's a classic muscle car, particularly a 69' Mach1 or a 63' Cobra. But a new Ford, never ever EVER again. |

| DKnightSr, I think you value the Ford family's pride too much here. No matter how much they care about their company, if they can't compete due to cost issues then no amount of personal pride will change that... customers are looking for a quality product at low prices, and right now thats what Japanese auto manufacturers are providing. |
