Interesting poll in money magazine this month.
Whats something you purchased that you later regretted?
For me I'd have to say Narnia. I read the books as a kid, but hadn't seen the movie. When it came out on DVD I just bought it...I should have just rented it. -> |

The first vehicle I ever "owned" was a baby blue ford ranger. I still regret buying it and I absolutely don't trust rangers now, lol. I put out a lot of cash for it and it left me stranded so many times. A lot of money went into it.
I was told that it was probably just a "small" problem... until it wasn't that and the whole process repeated itself! I ended up selling it for parts for a lot less than I bought it for.
I remember my friends and I having to push it home from down my hilly street once. It was an impulsive buy, and I'm not a very impulsive person. It took me a long time to trust the vehicle I owned after it. Needless to say, I learnt my lesson. |

Maybe this is a good indication of why nobody should buy Ford cars or stock... |

| I used to be "American Cars Only" but I relented after I wrecked the ford (The week before I had just dumped $1,800 in replacing the transmission) the ford and bought a little toyota pick up. I drove that sucker 80,000 miles (in 3 years, lol) before a major repair and it already had 90,000 miles on it when I bought it. |

Everyone knows the old joke about what "FORD" stands for, right?
Found On Road Dead
For the record, I've owned a Ford pickup truck, a GMC pickup truck, and a Dodge pickup truck. The worst of the three was the Ford. |

| Ford could also mean Fix or repair daily. MY girlfriend used to have a Ford and it broke down all the time. |

Yeah well... say what you want... but the fact is:
First On Race Day was a phrase sired by:
'68 Cobra (428 engine in an approx 2,000 lb body)
and of course:
The Mustang
Given your choice, which would you rather cruise in...
A '69 Thunderbird or a '69 Corolla?
Ladies, feel free to chime in on which you'd like to be picked up in for your evening with your new date.
Newton I believe had an interesting theory. That which goes up, must come down. I think I'm more comfortable in Ford country even with their problems than I am in Toyota country.
But to each his own Oh yeah... my 89 Ford F150 has 197,000 on it, with only the valves ground. Guess it just depends on who drives it and how, eh? |

How you drive your car is much more important than what kind of car it is, in my opinion. I would say that gas mileage, engine oil usage, and the like are more dependent on driving style than car make or model. I get about 15-17 mpg driving a small convertible... and so far I haven't had any problems despite how much I push the engine. I'll call it a tribute to German engineering, shall we reopen that debate? |

I rank maintainability and reliability of a car as a high priority, but sadly, the only real unbiased sourcce of information is consumers reports. It seems to me it is a bad business move that car companies don't even try to advertise their car as being easy to maintain and reliable. The asian makers typically make it a point to make more reliable cars, but I have yet to see a commercial emphasizing this fact and obvious advantage. I think there is a sizable population out there who would rather buy the honda or toyota that will go twice as long as the ford or dodge before having major mechanical difficulties.
I'm not their advertising VP though, but if I were ford, I would be worried that they will start to really hammer in the unreliability of many american cars.
NOTE: I'm not really bashing american cars in particular, but given that cars on the market have such a variable range of reliable service (maybe 50-300000 miles), I wish more carmakers would put emphasis on something else besides looking pretty enough with a big engine to woo buyers into getting it off the lot. |

Have to say a Compaq computer. Had nothing but issues with early pentium model not to mention lack of flexibility in upgrading. Having saiod that Ishould have done more homework at the time in selecting the product I was buying. What do they say... oh yah, buyer beware (except maybe in the State of Calififornia)!
