You have to be careful about those 'for the life of the balance' transfers, though. Make sure you read the fine print! A lot of them will raise your rate to ~20% if you're late once, or require you to make a minimum amount of purchases per month - all sitting and accumulating interest at your higher purchasing rate until the transfer balance is paid off!  |

| credit counseling does screw your credit report for 7 yes 7 years. my bro in law just finished going through it. he has his first cc back. he has not been allowed a cc for all those 7 years. ya, he's out of debt, but if he had had an emergency i don't know what he would have done. |

| I had no idea it credit counselling jurts your credit score. I recommended it to my friend when she got into credit card trouble for the 5th (yes 5th) year in a row. |
