Has anyone gotten their credit report? I'm pretty sure you can get it for free once per year.
I had them send it once after I was contacted that somone tried to open a cell phone account in my name. I live in Chicago and it was setup in New York...I'm not sure if that was how they found it.
Anyway, seeing my credit report was pretty interesting...saw a lot of stuff I'd forgotten about. |

| Anyone can and should get it free in cases of suspected fraud or if you are turned down after someone else has checked your credit. Otherwise, get your free annual reporth through annualcreditreport.com. |

| Starting March 1, 2005, you can obtain a free copy of your credit report. Federal law will require the 3 major credit reporting companies to provide residents of Missouri, Illinois and 10 other states with one free copy a year. Visit the website at www.annualcreditreport.com. NOTE: For security purposes, you may have to hand-type the website in your address bar. |

Experts say you should check your credit report at least once a year. If you've applied for credit within the last 30dys you can write the credit agencies who will in return provide you with one for free.  |

| One idea is, since you can get a free report from each of the 3 credit reporting agencies once per year, you should request one every 4 months or so, that way you are covered all year in case something funky happens. |
