Honestly, I'd like to know how you've come to this conclusion. |

Well, I mean how do you get a price value per share from that, to base it's valuation? So, even if it was twice that price as long as it was good at eps and expected growth it would be undervalued? I am genuinely interested. |

Reuters, April 2 (Reuters) - French communications-equipment maker Alcatel (CGEP.PA: Quote, Profile, Research) (ALA.N: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Sunday it would buy smaller U.S. rival Lucent Technologies Inc. (LU.N: Quote, Profile, Research) for $13.4 billion to broaden its product mix and gain more market heft to negotiate prices with customers.
The following statistics provide a snapshot of how the combined company would look:
NAME: To be determined
HEADQUARTERS: Paris. The North American operations would be based in New Jersey, where Bell Labs will remain headquartered.
GEOGRAPHIC PRESENCE: 130 countries.
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER: Patricia Russo, currently CEO of Lucent.
NON-EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN: Serge Tchuruk, currently Alcatel's chairman and CEO.
COMBINED MARKET CAPITALIZATION: $36 billion (30 billion euros)
TOTAL ANNUAL SALES: $25 billion (21 billion euros)
BOARD OF DIRECTORS: The combined company would have 14 board members. The board would include Russo and Tchuruk, as well as five directors from each company. The board also would include two new independent European directors.
OWNERSHIP: Upon completion of the merger, Alcatel shareholders would own about 60 percent of the combined company, with Lucent shareholders owning the rest.
TOTAL EMPLOYEES: Currently the two companies have a total of 88,000 workers. The companies said they expect to eliminate 10 percent of the work force to cut costs. |

| I have not researched it elsewhere, but MSN Money Research Wizard shows a rather wide spread for Nucor of 88.39-128.90 (average 105.54) for 2006 (possibly not much gain) and possibly slipping in 2007 (even though earnings are estimated to be better). But confidence of accuracy is low, probably because the 10 analysts do not agree (wide spread). |

I put in a huge order to buy Lucent around $2.80, but I cancelled it when I realized I was buying... Lucent.
Now that its over $3, I guess I made the wrong move. |

In reference to Nucor:
Well, I don't think they are undervalued but, I do think that steel companies that have thier own mining resources will prosper tremendously as demand for steel seems to be unquenchable for quite some time in the future, like a loooonnngggg time. Does nucor own their own resources for steel? |
