I have to double check the forum rules, but I don't think this breaks any of them. Of course having multiple accounts to better your odds to try to win the $50 is a bit unethical. Once we get some bigger payouts we'll have to tighten things to keep it fair.

It is very easy to know with this forum software if the same person is posting as two different people if they become suspect. Wink

I bet you $500 that I could run another ident on here and you wouldn't be able to tell it was me, and I'd be sittin' at the same 'puter. Twisted Evil

But, I haven't and have no interest in it unless, you wanna bet Wink I have my other porfolios in google and yahoo mostly. I don't see why there would be any reason other than private competitions to have more than one.

Only active posters are able to win the prize. An active poster is defined as someone that has 10 or most posts within the contest month. Since this is your first post, that is probably why you've not received anything so far. Wink

If splink had been an active poster this month, he would have won! Maybe he should follow through on his questions...

Amazingly...there were 16 members with better portfolio's than lostsoul. I don't get it. People must join, buy a stock and forget all about it!

Not true, not entirely. If you look at the second person on the list of non-active posters, their return was nearly 80% for the month, but their portfolio value is zero, so they must have come to the site and sold their holding(s) to lock in their gains.

I think it's that some people just don't care about the $50 competition. The use the site, possibly read the posts and play the sim, but don't feel that they have (or want to have) anything to share.

You, know I think it is illegal for fund managers and brokers to actually participate in public forums that might be used as buy and sell signals for securities. But I also remembered that Ben was wondering if any fund managers came around, I bet you could spot some potentials sharpening their strategies by running a query and say like if more than 6-10 securities held and sort by greatest return percentages the top ones just might be them......

I know this is an old post, but I think maybe the reason some people are not posting, is because they do not want to affect their returns by getting e$ from posts.
They just want to see how well they can do with thier starting 5000e$.

Earning money from posting does not affect your return percentage. Smile
