I'm considering offering e$ for sale. I don't think there should be any legal issues because if you buy more e$ it doesn't help your chances at winning the monthly competition. Someone with just the 1000 starting e$ has the same chance. I do need to research that a bit more though.

Do you think anyone would buy them to diversify more and try to corner the market on items? Also those that just want to use the portfolio and not post could get a bunch of e$ to mess around in the sim.

I dunno about prices, but probably like $10 for 100,000 e$ or something.

Let me know your thoughts!

yeah im not sure about this, from the buyer's perspective, why would one purchase e$ for $10 or so when he/she could make a few posts and get it for free?

i guess though that it wouldn't hurt to have the option available if someone really did want it that easy.

i really dont have an opinion either way, im just throwing thoughts out there

I voted yes, since it is a way for you to monetize and increase the value of this site, and virtual items are hot in many games and fetch high prices, and maybe you could use the money to get the percentage problem fixed.

Also, it would put real monetary value on the e$'s that we hold now. But I think you should start off holding a weekly auction on the e$100,000 and let the demand set the price, you may end up having to have daily auctions if there is enough demand, and as you are curtailing the easy money the value may be more than we know. This is a free simulator and you still get e$1000 to start with so it would still be cool and you can earn by posting and I think you should allow a loser (who many appear to be post-aphobic) trying to get started, to get refunded if he goes below e$100 and get account refilled to e$1000 for free, as it is widely known that new traders lose their @ss this could keep interest up in your user base. Cool

I do appreciate the feedback jdunn. Cool

I think I will try an auction to test the waters, only thing is that targets posters and not those behind the scenes.

We'll see how it goes.

Well, you could take bids through your PM's and post the highest bid to an auction thread that would also allow anonymity for the buyers. As you don't want jealous members harassing them and stuff. Rolling Eyes Then if you want to get serious, you could add a customized auction script to you site like a little ebay. I've done them before, and the auction usernames wouldn't necessarily have to be the same as forum member names. Wink

I don't know what kind of response this will get in terms of buyers, but I don't have any problem with it. I'm sure that even a moderate response would be a great boost to revenue for the site... why not see what happens?

I think we need to develope a competion that would make e$'s more valuable. Some kind of game like monopoly to accumilate assets and net worth. Founding partners and moderators and Ben wouldn't be elidgible to compete. Just a thought.

OK, I voted for the idea. JD brought up a very important thought about getting the percentage corrected also we need to offer all types of trading would make einvesting real world and I believe help make our e$'s more valuable. There has to be a reason for products in the store to be of value and not just cool to have. In real world it costs to own things and your status gets elevated with certain objects. Like a country club membership...just some thoughts here, I just woke up and still am a little groggy. Shocked Very Happy
