What do you think?
I'd pay a monthly fee if there were real-time quotes.

I think that I agree. I don't think real-time quotes are important enough for this site to have to resort to paying for membership.

I think the tribe has spoken, and paying for membership has been voted off the island. Laughing

I can see both sides of the issue here. If advertising revenue isn't cutting it, I think some of the hardcore members will pay a fee. However, you'd lose much of your membership. Since this site has a decent (not overcrowded) membership and non-bombarding advertisements, I'd leave it as it is right now. Plus, I wouldn't really want to pay a fee due to the whole credit card involvement. (I like things simple.)

I like that. Smile

If they ever get bad let me know. Personally I HATE pop-ups and other intrusive advertising. You'll NEVER see that here!

This is a good idea to keep in development. Currently I don't believe subscribing to the real time quotes service is enough of an incentive for anyone to take the plunge. It would likely deter members from registering as the "Free sim" and "$9 upgrade" would clash for attention on the front page.
Once the member base is up, user submitted content is streaming in, sim is fully functional (shorting, stops, etc.), then this should get a solid second look.

In the meantime, I think brainstorming ways for the site to start touching the black is a great idea. Are the "founding members" meeting semi-regularly to address the funding shortfall? Dividing roles, and pursuing new leads to bring in advertising and users?
