What about putting a net worth field on the user profile, view topic, and memberlist? The net worth would be cash + property + portfolio holdings.

Another suggestion... currently if you own property or collections they will appreciate, should other things like cars depreciate?

Showing your net worth would be very cool.

Making cars and other items depreciate...you know I was blaming this on the shop mod (it has a sell back % but I kep it at 100) There is no reason I can't go in there and depreciate items manually the same way I appreciate other stuff.

That would be a great idea.

Too bad you to do all that manually, lol.

Well, you don't want to adjust the price, otherwise it just gets cheaper to "buy" a car, right? I'm talking about items in your inventory. I've had a Corvette for several months. It should be worth less than when I bought it, but if you change the value of the item in the store it just makes it easier to buy a new one.

It seemst that property is being changed by simply raising the prices. That means I can sell property and realize a gain, and I see that's appropriate. But depreciation would be based on some rate and time of holding the asset.

Thats true...It would be good if the shop can have a set depreciation for each item category.

OOooooo there is that awful phrase that as a teenager I grew to despise!! My bf's dad is a big wig in the market and he used to intimidate the CRAP outta me!! He made be believe that in order to play the market you must have a genius IQ and if you didn't you would for sure fail. He would belittle you by letting you know exactly what your "Net Worth" was as well as your parents. Never a pretty picture this guy painted!! So in response to the original question, I'm scared....(runs under bed with portfolio & hides) Shocked

No, please don't hide! Laughing

We have 3 places to keep e$ here... in the portfolio, in cash, and in assets like cardboard boxes and property. The data on the view topic screen shows cash and portfolio value, I thought it would be cool to see a person's total net worth, as a sum of all three. Then we could see our first e$ millionaire. Cool

i would like to see net worth...i think that will make this sim a LOT more interesting and competitive. Very Happy

not that it isnot interesting already, but when you actually see the whole number it gives more incentive to make it better.

It would just be cool to have, I think there are other things worth addressing first. Still, it would be nice to see that big number next to my name... I have a couple hundred e$ in property. Very Happy

You're the reason I suggested it. Smile I was noticing that your e$ was a fraction of what you had earlier, and you hadn't put it into your portfolio, so I assume you bought "stuff".

I bought penthouses. Two of them. My debate now is whether or not to sell them and see if I can handle a 500,000 e$ portfolio.
I actually have my new DCF working, and have two stocks which I am really liking fundamentally, and another which I am just looking into. Too bad I have my "freakin" honors thesis to write... if anyone will do that for me, I'll be glad to share my stock analysis. Smile

The size of your investment shouldn't matter, right? If you have 50,000 you but 1,000 shares of stock... if you have 500,000 then you buy 10,000 shares. The % return is going to be the same either way... or am I missing something.
