We re-financed a few months ago with an on-line company. We were able to get a much better rate than our local mortgage providers and reduced the term from a 15 year to a 10 year and decreased our monthly payment a few bucks! Anyone else had luck with on-line companies?

Refinancing is a great idea even with a penalty sometimes you still end up ahead with a better payment and rate.

I've never tried an online company to refinance it scares me to not be able to sit down and do everthing with someone sitting right in front of me when you are talking about such a big sum of money.

I have to agree that refinancing regardless of wether it is online or not is a wonderful idea. My husband and I just refinanced our home a few years ago. Went from a 30 to a 15 yr mortgage, and the payment is only a few more bucks a month. In the long run it has saved us a TON of money.

With our last home we did the same thing- we had to pay a big penalty to get out of a higher interest rate- but because the rates had fallen so much- we made the money back in less than a year.

We also refinanced last year, and saved a bundle. We were going to refinance with the mortgage company we had, but they kept on screwing up, and their people were not very flexible. I was calling around for quotes, and wound up refinancing and getting a great deal with our bank. They made the process so easy, it was amazing.

Easy, safe, helpful, would do it again. Went from 30 to 15yr and 4/9%. Spoke w them on phone, they were always available. They called us on our vacation. Do your homework. We talked to others who had good luck. I prefer not to endorse.

Some banks will also absorb any lawyers costs and any other fees just to get your business. Can't beat that!
