When I think of retirement I worry.

To drive away my worries and to retire safe happily.

I am saving in Bank weekely $25 and whatever situation arises I am not even toughing it untill I am 65 if I am alive till then. Whatever = whatever.

I have a seperate budget for investing.
I have health insurance plan in place and a Life insurance policy in place.

Whatever I do, I want to be safe when it comes to retirement.

.

The book, "The Automatic Millionaire" says to automate the money being taken out, by using a bank account that will make auto deductions, so you don't have to think about it. Smile

I'm lucky, my employer puts $10,000/year into a retirement account for use employees. We use Schwab.

What's really scary is trying to figure out how MUCH money we'll actually need to live years and years from now. What seems like a lot of savings now may be poverty level by the time I actually get to retirement.

I think that's a really good point, depending on inflation levels what seems sufficient now could be much too little in 40 years time.

I agree. There is not really a magic formula to know how much we are going to need when retirement time comes. For me, I do worry about social security not even being around by the time I am ready to retire. I am just trying to put away what I can without having to sacrifice too much.

Me too. I figure if Social Security repays my parents and my husband's parents in their later years, that's probably about the best I'll ever see of it. By the time we baby boomers retire, the amount it pays won't cover the smallest bill, probably. But, I don't look to the government to take care of me,either. I think it's my job to plan ahead.

I didn't think of retirement for the first 10 years that I worked. What a mistake! This is a mistake that my children will not make. It is so important to start saving early. You can never have too much.

Here in Canada there is CPP- a government pension plan. Most people don't think it will be around though by the time they reach retirement age. It's always better to start saving as young as possible...

It is important to note that SS was never meant to REPLACE a sound retirement plan. Shocked It was always intended to either keep the elderly out of poverty or as a supplement to a retirement plan.
