Hey how about a stock that cramer picks. We guess who will have the biggest gain in say a week.

So we could say on friday get the list of the stocks he picked "THAT DAY" Lightning round included, then put your guess in over the weekend and then the next weekend we see who the winner is?

Just a thought.

Oh yeah we could add biggest looser, he always has one that just tanks!

I like this one. So in the Cramer Recap thread for Friday everyone can pick a stock that they feel will do the best the following week.

Once that thread is created I'll post more info there.

Thanks for the idea poornewb!

I personally would like to see longer contests that encourange "investing" rather than "trading". I realize that would delay the gratification, but for those of us that are not active traders it would be a more realistic representation of what we're striving to do. For example, I don't often make trades that are in-out within the space of 30 days, much less a specific calendar month (or week). Finding a stock that may "pop" a few percentage points in a week is great. Finding a stock that returns 15-25% over the course of a year in a nice steady gain can be just as interesting. Smile

Seems like a good idea you have, it will definitely help practice for long-term investing, but it doesnt sound like much fun...a YEAR.? hmm Rolling Eyes

Investing should be boring. Smile If you go to sleep every night worried about what the market is going to do tomorrow, then you're a different kind of investor than me. Cool

We could have a Long-term contest.

But I'm not sure how new users can get involved.

Minimum stock value would be like $20.
Maybe go for 4 months.
Best gain wins.

Any other ideas for this one?

Umm, yeah. That's an aspect I had not considered. And frankly I didn't expect my suggestion to be considered anyway. Smile

Maybe we could allow "short" positions in a contest? In other words, the person with the best "net gain" wins. So if one person picks stock A at $10 and it goes to $15 they made 50%. If the next person picks stock B to go short, and it drops from $10 to $4 then they made 60% on their pick, even if it went in the opposite direction.

Shocked So if a new member wants in they would have to wait four months to get in on it? Grimreaper has a great weekly contest but it's kinda hard to figure out for some Embarassed

I consider every suggestion. Actually, don't we usually implement about 90% of suggestions? Wink heh

This is a good idea. We can get our short fans involved.

I could start a new long term contest every month, but that would get really confusing and be a lot of work.

We can go for it. If your not in just wait 6 months for the next one. Laughing

Lets aim to start a long term contest for the 1st of the year.

Well, since it is the 1st....we could do a 1.2 Million e$ Long Term Stock Pick contest. You can join in the next month, but only qualify for 1.1 and then 1.0 the next month and so on. How does something like this sound?
