I think we should start a thread with where we can find the best rates. Most of the time, I just look on Bankrate.com, but they are not always up to date.
When posting CDs, please list any applicable minimums/maximums, the APY rate, the term, as well as where you got the CD. It may also be prudent to note any special conditions or characteristics of the CD. For example:
ING Direct 2-Year CD
APY: 3.70%
No minimum
Unlike most CDs, ING Direct CDs are calculated with simple interest, meaning that the interest is not compounding interest on a daily accrual. Also, the withdrawl penalty is half the interest earned/accrued, so it does not take away from the principle if you withdraw within 6 months. This CD can only be opened online. |

| The highest rates I've seen have almost always been at Pentagon FCU. As a credit union, they do have membership reqirements, but it is fairly easy to get an account if you do your homework. |

No, currently ING's 5 Year CDs are definitely at 4.30% at the moment. Do you have a link for First IB? Or any more information regarding their CDs (minimums, special conditions, special offers, etc)? |

| First Internet Bank of Indiana had the absolute best checking account and among the top CD rates when I signed up for them a few years ago. Their rates have slipped a bit (which is why I'm surprised to hear they are beating ING), but they are still acceptable. They also seem to have the absolute best service & I know a lot of internet bank junkies who have stuck with them because of this. CD rates, penalties, and returns |

| PenFed CU has great certificate rates. Currently paying 5.15 on 7 yrs and 5.00 on 5 yrs. When it comes time to buy the next rungs in my ladder, I'm switching to their 7 yr CDs. |

Ya know...I looked on the PenFed site to see how I could get in for free. I went through that whole list of organizations and they all have some sort of membership fee. Can anyone let me know what organization has no fees and makes me eligible for PenFed? (Short of actually joining the military of course.) |

Lucky for me, I am still a student. I finally finished the process for an account. That Platinum Visa looks really good too! Thanks for the help buddy. |
