One cost if you intend to buy precious metals like gold and hold them over time is storage. If you buy the actual metal, you have to pay storage costs. If you buy gold funds or indexes, it's just like other stocks.
Over time I have purchased some gold coins, which have numismatic value as well as the precious metal content. They are easy to store in a safe deposit box. I don't spent tens of thousands of dollars in this area, but it's fun to do and the coins can be beautiful to look at. |
