I'm already running into problems managing my mammoth portfolio, and we aren't even a full day into the month. Do I buy a bunch of companies and limit how much each can help my return, or go big into a couple?
I have about e$150,000 invested and I think that is the largest amount here... is there anyone else with alot who can give me any ideas/advice? |

| Now you can understand a few problems that fund managers run into. The one thing you should be thankful for is the fact that your buying has no effect on the actualy market price. I bought 10,000 shares of amot today. It has traded a total of 650 shares so far today. In real life it would have had a huge impact. I have a much smaller portfolio then you do but I am keeping all of my money in a few stocks. |

| Buy one stock of a mid-cap to huge-cap company that is fairly liquid. Hit da Homerun! |

| I guess you shouldn't have to worry about commissions with that much of an investment. But those of us under 10 k I think it can make a difference. |

I have a total of 16 positions in 13 different stocks. Almost all of them are up today, it seems like everything has really started to run up after 1 p.m.
Maybe its the market. Maybe its just that I'm that good. |

Well, in the rules we say 20 stocks. BUT, you can really have as many as you want. Your performance may start to decline at some point though. |

Yeah, I usually buy in blocks of about e$10,000. My largest position is in RIMM, where I have slightly over e$25,000 spread over 3 buy points, all of which are currently in the black. After that, most of the rest of my money is in chunks about about 10 grand, with a couple of holdings in the e$5,000 range from my days as a one of the little guys.
Of my 13 stock holdings, only 1 went down today (Inco - N), and I don't even have 5 grand in that. |

Yeah, back in my younger, more reckless days I did some flipping, and I take full responsible for my actions and will fully accept the repercussions.
I sold:
Headwaters (HW) for just under 4% on December 1, it hasn't really moved much since.
Provident Energy Trust (PVX) for 1.5% on December 6, its tanked since then.
Burlington Resources (BR) for 5.5% on December 7, it received a buyout offer shortly after and is now over $86. It was a stupid sell, I got impatient and missed out.
I bought and sold Barrick Gold (ABX) for just over 3% today, I think I am overexposed to precious metal mining and decided to take my profit and diversify off of it.
I bought and sold Lloyds TSB Group (LYG) for just over 2.5% today, again, I am overexposed in certain sectors and financial companies is one of them. I also don't think it has great prospects to run anywhere, although it does have a fat 7.6% dividend that isn't taken into account in the game. |

| Seems like you have done well for yourself. What else are you holding in that massive portfolio of yours? |

Well you could pay to see, but I really wouldn't know what to do with the money. Right now I am holding:
AAUK - Anglo American, precious metal mining
BIDU - Baidu.com, Chinese search engine
CBI - Chicago Bridge and Iron, specialized natural resources and industrial construction
GPIC - Gaming Partners, casino gaming (2 positions)
GS - Goldman Sachs, financial firm
IIJI - Internet Japan, Japanese internet service provider
JOSB - Jos. Bank, upscale men's retail clothing
N - Inco, metal (nickel) mining, increasing my stake when markets open tomorrow
PJC - Piper Jaffray, financial firm
RIMM - Research in Motion, technology company/maker of Blackberry (3 positions)
TSM - Taiwan Semiconductor, largest independent semiconductor foundry
I see myself selling some of these positions off in the coming weeks and moving more toward large-caps and blue-chips. Suggestions or comments? |

| I also was thinking about moving into the blue chips. Microsoft had a big day today up 2.8%. GE was up around 1% on the day. |

| I am officially holding my portfolio value at 150,000-155,000 for the month. Any e$ I have above that will be held from here in so I don't dilute my returns. I think I should start paring down the number of companies I hold to a more diversified group of 10 or less. |

I see you have 3 positions in asian internet providers.
I was wondering what your thoughts on sify were? Its a internet portal in india but its owned buy someone here in the states?
With that much money and that many holdings you may need to start thinking like a fund manager?
