Ive looked into it and those paid to shop companys seem to make since. However you will have wo wait for a while and spend your own money before the re-emburce you, or am I wrong?

I don't, but taking a glimpse at some of the websites claiming to pay you to shop indicate that most, if not all, of the ones on the internet are a scam of some sort.
There are some professions where at times people have to actually get paid to go shopping and get reimbursed by their employer, but they are usually a subtask of some other primary job function.
Even if some of these things are true, do you really think anyone will pay you enough to reimburse you for cost of gas when you drive yourself to buy something? Likely not. |

| Yeah, most of those companies want you to buy the products try them, fill out a survey and then they will reimburse you and mabe give you and extra 15 dollars. It seems that extra 15 dollars will go to gas and with gas prices going nowhere but UP it seems it is in no way worth it! |

More important than gas is the fact that a majority of these companies oblige you to complete lengthy forms/reports subsequent to the purchase. There are many "secret shopping" firms that one can apply to, but I'm not certain if it's worth the time spent. There are other online/television promotions where you merely pay "shipping and handling," but in reality, by ordering the first "free trial," the purchaser locks him or herself into a contract that is minimally mentioned in the subscripts.
It may be worthwhile to commit yourself to such offers, but you must be careful. After all, nothing is free. |

I have signed up for many companies, free. They are relatively easy to find if you do a search.
The only one I've ever done so far was because it was really easy. And because they called me and asked me if I would do it.
All I had to do was drive to 2 local gas stations they wanted info from.
I had to look at the sign and write down what the prices were for gas. (Didn't even have to get out of the car). Then I had to call and report to them what was on the sign.
This was last summer, I got $10 for it.
There are others that are worth it I believe. Some will reimburse you like $40 for dinner, and $10-$20 for bar. You don't really make anything on most of these, but you get to eat a great dinner and get reimbursed for it. |

They are all different, and I've never done any other than the one I mentioned, but some require training before you can accept a shop, some don't, some you can self assign, etc.
Most have several, if not many, questions that you have to answer about a shop, most you have to be able to fax, email, etc. your answers, receipts, and such to the company.
A lot of times like for restraunts, you are not actually "paid" to do a shop, but rather reimbursed. So you're not getting any money for doing the shop, you're getting a free meal basically. |

Keep in Mind that most large retail companies will send their buyers and/or product development managers to the competition to "comp shop". They are looking for simular items to what they work with. They all have company credit cards so the money is not out of their pocket. They will then take the items back and talk to the suppliers about them. Often times they will be tested at a consumer lab.
If you are wanting to make money shopping, start a business as a personal shopper. I have a friend whos wife does that and she does very well. |
