When you sell/buy with the same agent- does the agent usually cut a deal with you re: commissions? Is it possible to even make a deal with commissions?

The only thing is when you are buying, remember your agent represents the interests of the seller, not necessarily you.

We used the same agent to sell our home and to buy our new construction home. The agent commission fee was 2% less.

The reason I was asking is because I know in the commissions, a certain percentage of the commission goes to the r.e. agent, acertain amount to the r.e. company etc. I wasn't sure how much there really is to play with.

You can negotiate the commission rate with them. If you are using the same agent you should have more of a padding to work with.

We always offer a lower commission rate before we sign anything. Only once has a realtor not wanted to take a lower commission in order to get the listing.
