| Is it better to have a mortgage or no mortgage when paying for college? We would like to try to pay our house off by the time the kids go to college but some people say it is not a smart thing to do because the colleges think you have money and won't give you any breaks or scholarships? |

| That's a good question. Here (in Canada) of course you can get scholarships and so forth no matter what- if you qualify- but no financial aid. |
