I have a web design business, and I was wondering if anyone has tried leasing a vehicle and charging it to the company?? Any ideas?

There are some rules related to the Gross vehicle weight - I think it has to weigh a certain amount to qualify... I noticed at the VW dealer here they were pushing the Touraegs and said you could deduct it as an expense since it is so heavy it counts as a truck not a car.

I believe the vehicle must have a gross curb weight of 6500 pounds. My husband is a contractor and we have done this for his truck.

I would check with an accountant- we have a small htg/air home based business- of course the truck is a work vehicle but we have another car- used partially for personal and partially for sales calls/deliveries etc. We have a certain percentage of the lease that we write off.

I would double check, but it seems to me you may be able to write off a small percentage of your car, not all of it.

I would check with my accountant and be sure before I planned on it. I doubt you can deduct all of the cost, but probably a percentage.

This situation would definitely be a percentage. I know of several cases where a large, or complete percentage is written off (service vehicles, etc), but due to the nature of your work I'm doubtful you would qualify for anything too large.

Definitely look into it though.

I think you should get a vehicle for your web design company because it will most likely increase your sales, if your portfolio is good Wink

It really depends where your driving the vehicle Smile Drive it in cities where there are big buildings and 2 storey houses, etc.. Very Happy
