It depends on what you are looking for.
www.stockcharts.com has a fairly good (and free) stock charting on their website. I use them frequently if I just want to whip out a chart with a couple of common indicators.
If you want software that will also apply some rules to generate lists of stocks that meet specific criteria and chart them, I suggest TC2005 from the Worden Bros. You can check them out at www.worden.com. If you decide to get the TC2005 package, you can do me a favor by using the banner at the bottom of my web page at http://www.statisticaltrading.com/resources.asp (yes, they will give me a kickback).
What I haven't found, but would love to get my hands on, is a charting package that allows overlaying moving averages with differing timeframes, e.g. a chart with daily closing prices overlayed with a 10 week weekly moving average (10 samples and 5 day intervals) and another moving average of 20 samples of 2 day intervals. A package like this should allow me to "see" whether a chart has the daily RSI rising with the weekly stochastics rising and the bi-daily chaiken money flow increasing. I can programmatically find these but it would be interesting to see what they would look like charted. If you find such a package, please let me know. |

I read an article about it saying it was really good. I want to check it out but don't have the $99 at the moment (hurrican wilma headed towards me) |

| I'd like to second stockcharts.com. They have the best free charting service I am aware of. Their Sharp Charts 2 beta is even more impressive. |

| I used SuperCharts for several years, then abandoned it when I found the Worden Brothers TC2000 program. TC2000 was the best thing in my life until I switched from a Windows PC to a Mac running OS X. That Worden program won't run on a Mac without a Windows emulator, and that would put me right back to cussing at my Windows screen -- also my friends who use an emulator say it runs v-e-r-y s--l--o---w----l------y. So I go along with others in this thread who touted StockCharts.com as the best freebie. Its charts and other features are simple to set up and comprehensive. And their Sharp Charts 2 beta is wondrous. It allows annotating, Fib charts and lots of stuff you can't easily find elsewhere, at least on a free site. |

| Thanks, Yogi. The IncredibleCharts site looks great, but I use an iMac G5 and that software is Windows-only. I love my iMac and wouldn't trade it for ANY program. Good luck. |

| I agree with StockCharts.com as well. I like to use their Gallery View, it tells you alot on one page. |

| The recent upgrade on StockCharts.com added and improved a bunch of stuff I haven't had time to check out. But they get a gold star for trying. One thing I haven't figured out is how to make the site retain whatever settings I put in, so next time I'm right there except for changing the symbol. Usually there's a "store settings" button or something like that on most sites, but I haven't found it after the upgrade. Not a big deal, but a minor nuisance to retype my specific settings every time I visit the site the first time that day. Also, before the upgrade I was able to have my Safari browser open the site to my current hot stock, but not it opens to the Dow Industrials, about which I care little. Small tidbits. |
