hmm, I do a lot of affiltrattion, and ofcourse selling a domain from time to time.
Betting sites are great, but really hard to get started(promoted).
So I will just stick with affiltration |

You can do that. There's also places on the Internet that specialize in selling domain names. The thing about that is there is no actual value in a domain name. You could have "bestdomain.com" and have lousy content and therefore have a lousy website. Or have "worstdomain.com" and have great content and get thousands (or even millions) of visitors. So the domain, while not unimportant, is the least of your worries in setting up an online business. In my opinion.
I have been in web design (mostly for myself) for years. I finally have a site that's up and running and paying for my server. I have several paying customers, but only one big / successful site. I lease a dedicated server ($200 per month) and I sell sponsorships on the big site ($100 per week) so you can do the math.
But to get there took two years. For those two years I was often working 50-60 hours a week in addition to my "real job" to get the site developed and running. (BTW, it uses a highly modified version of the same forum software used on this site.) Now there are over 8K members, close to 150K posts, and it's getting 25K to 30K page views a day, half a million a month. I spend perhaps 8-10 hours a month on coding and site maintenance... which leaves me time to do phpBB customizations for other folks.
Building a web site is easy. Building a web site that is popular is not. Building a web site that actually pays for itself is not something that you will be likely to do the first time. |
