Any idea how I would go about finding a partner (or partners) to invest in commercial real estate with me? I can't afford to do it on my own but want to get more involved than just investing in a REIT.

The second level of due diligence are the condition of property, including physical objects such as building systems, environmental issues and structural components. Equally important are the intangibles, such as title, survey and zoning regulations and land use. Knowledge of contract law, insurance, finance, accounting and tax legislation is also essential to do things behind to ensure success at the end. Get accurate estimates of the professionals on what it would cost to do what is wrong.

I've heard a syndicate may be what I'm looking for. I wonder where I'd find a good one of those.

I would be really hesitant to invest in real estate right now, unless you partner up with someone that is experienced and knowledgeable about it. The way the real estate market is right now, it is not safe enough for me to want to partake. The housing market is still in crisis, and it's not getting any better any time soon. The last thing you want to do is buy a house and the only thing working is the bathroom fan!
