The old fashioned type where the machine was hinged in back and dropped into the cabinet sideways? No. But it's pretty easy to build a fixed height shelf into a cabinet (or under a tabletop) to bring the needleplate level with the cabinet/tabletop. Just lift the machine in and out of the cabinet.

It depends on whether you want to decorate the interior of your home to reflect the new area that you are in or whether you want it to reflect you and your family. Your own individual style and preferences. Personally, I like to decorate a room according to my own since of style regardless of the environment that I live in. You could even make a dream wall, which could consist of different styles of places you would like to travel to. Or you could center the decor of one room around a specific region or country that you have visited and really loved.
The easiest way to do any room is in basic neutral colors for your bigger pieces then simply add color. By places colorful pieces in strategic places you give yourself the option to change the decor of a room relatively inexpensively. Also by placing certain photographs or pictures on the wall or various pieces of furniture such as a sofa table, end table, coffee table or shelf.
