I have been investing 2% of my earnings in our 401K (after tax). I contribute 8% pre tax because that is the most my company will match. I've contributed after tax money because I can withdraw it without penalty (except for any earnings). I'm wondering what your opinion is on this?

I had replied to this before the hack. A short summary of what I had posted: Invest in 401(k) until match, then invest in an IRA up to the limit, then invest in pretax-401(k) to the limit, then invest in other tax-advantaged accounts. Then invest in tax-disadvantaged accounts (as you are doing now).

What are other tax advantage accounts besides 401k and IRA?
