Actually, WNR was picked up by my quant model. I didn't do much with the stock other than look at the financials and make sure there were no unusual items... as I haven't taught it to read yet.

Before you go ripping any more into this, why don't you look at the Performance of the Top 25 Picks? I assembled it just for you. Wink

And on that note, I'm going to sign off for a while. I should be back from vacation in a week or so, unless I get lost at sea... or get raided by a pirate ship. Hm. That would be ironic, wouldn't it? Laughing

Oh my bad...I thunk you said they was the "top 25" picks fer June. Since I doan really care where they bin and only where they's goin....I figured I'd jist randomly pick 5 off da pig list (although any of the 25 woulda bin jist fine I'm sho) and see how I do goin forwerd using the May closing price. I did add WNR as a newbie and PCU back onto my chort list at one o'dem funny muny stock pickin games 3 minuets into da close yesterday. I feel a WOOHOO comin on! Laughing BTW, ifn yer floatin yer boat off da east coast of da U.S. and ya git lost....just keep headin east and you'll eventually hit land. Wink

If you are set on LRCX, that is fine... but you should know that some analysts (particularly the guy at Goldman) are quite negative on the sector. While I understand his concerns, he is essentially arguing for a cyclical deceleration accompanied by a concurrent contraction in multiples. This makes no sense, but if the market acts that way, adding to semi positions would probably be a good idea.

Article on Semis

I wrote something more about semiconductor stocks earlier, and how that negativity has really put a damper on the prices of those stocks. Another company (similar to LRCX) to consider is Applied Materials (AMAT). When the Goldman Sachs guy blows his call, Blankfein, Winkelried, and Cohn will be sitting in their offices reviewing the message I CC'd them on. You can email me thanks at INWB@GS.com Very Happy Wink

It's interesting that LRCX and other DRAM makers are expected to fall on tough times, yet the stock is still rising. It's probably because the expected earnings shortfall is already built into the stock price, like you said.

I have a target of around $63 for LRCX --- we'll see what happens.

INWB...

Thanks for the June list. I ran all 25 stocks through my valuation model, and five came up winners. I may add one or two to the SMP portfolio soon and send you some more e$ for your work.

ASPV is an interesting stock. They have no real product to sell, but have a great agreement with Roche that allows them to rake in the dough. If they continue to reap the benefits of that deal, the stock looks very undervalued.

Just a note on this stock - ASPV... Their recent trial of CellCept (a lupus-fighting drug) did not show the desired results, and the stock is down 9% today. They still have a ton of cash, and look to be worth the current stock price in liquid assets in a couple of years if the agreement with Roche doesn't terminate prematurely.

Yeah, I get a bad feeling about this one, too. See BHIP for a similar reference. Hopefully, they won't make the evening news anytime soon.

I'm actually liking whats happening here... of course, I'm not actually long right now so today didn't hurt me... but it "may" have created a great buy point. I have some more work do so on a few other stocks but I'll try to make this a productive evening and hit ASPV too.
