I've found a great site that posts really great bargains. The most recent was a post that contained several codes for free gifts from Chadwick's when you purchased any item. The poster also posted discount codes. It looked so tempting and like such a great deal. I bought a pair of shoes. I then did a second ordered so I could get another free item. This time I bought pants and a top.

Next I saw a post for the Disney Store. If you spent 75 you could get a great deal off. I don't know, around 40% maybe. I almost bought stuff thinking for future presents then stopped myself.

I don't have extra cash right now. I'm trying to SAVE and repay some debt.

So while I appreciate these posts I'm thinking maybe they are really costing me more! I would not have gone online and bought shoes, pants and a top plus paid the shipping. I don't NEED it right now. As far as the free gifts, I don't need those either! Sure, maybe they'll come in handy for a gift later that I won't have to spend but I need to pay bills now.

Sometimes I think bargain shopping ends up an excuse to spend money you would not have spent in the first place.

I did that too! I went and was just about to type in my credit card number when my mom's voice came into my head "If you really need that drive to the store and pick it up over the weekend". I definitely dont need the free gifts I have nowhere to store them! I feel like every time I see a great deal I have to buy it and I have trouble saying no when something is going to cost me $3 for a shirt or whatever it is. But it adds up. Especially if I have two drawers full of shirts

There's a temptation for me to do this with the Reward Credit cards. You know, you're debating whether you 'need' an item and then you think "oh, I'll earn more rewards for my vacation!". I've tried to start only responding to those great tips deals when it's a store I really need to deal with.

That was me at one point, too. Now I try to limit what I get, even if it's a really great deal. What I've done that's helping, is that I set aside one $25 webcertificate (I earn a lot of free gift certs/webbies) and use that as the 'fun' money for great deals. I don't feel like I'm depriving myself, and it's not coming out of my pocket. Plus, I'm getting great things for gifts or donating, and I get to enjoy that 'thrill' that comes with an amazing deal! Smile

I agree with what you are saying 100%. A lot of our debt is from opening store credit cards to get that 10% off your first purchase. What a joke!!

I have the same problem- but I go to Walmart to "save" money and I come out with a cart full of stuff that while it may have been a great deal- I find myself asking- did I need that???
