Everytime my husband gets a raise, we either increase the amount we put into retirement funds or the amount we put into our children's savings. We are living on the same amount of money we made five years ago. However, because we do this, we generally do not put money from his bonuses or stock options into savings, unless it is a very large amount.

I increase my 401(k) every time I get a raise as well as the amount I move to savings every week.
