The dollar has been holding steady this week against the euro.
But the administration has shown no signs that it plans to do anything to stop its decline. The weak dollar helps to lower the huge U.S. trade deficit by making American goods cheaper and more competitive abroad and foreign goods more expensive here. What US goods you may ask? This could raise inflation if the price of foreign-made goods rise in this country.
One factor affecting the dollar's decline has been speculation that China may shift part of its $1 trillion + foreign-currency reserves, the biggest in the world, out of the dollar and into other major currencies. Shocked Confused

I personally don't see what the dollar has to do with anything except dat it is just an excuse to drive gold n Earl higher. As far as imports/exports go....things are so messed up that there is little bearing on stock price of stocks tied to da USD. It's like the airlines....if rates stay low and fuel prices go lower you would think the airlines would double after quadruplin! Shocked Hmmmmm....I doubt it. Rolling Eyes

Here's a thought: The weaker dollar give Immigrants who sold their home elsewhere (like Austrailia and New Zealand) a reason to move here. I personally know of two such individuals. They think it is just great because they can buy homes at a much smaller percentage compared to the homes they just sold.
