My immediate family also has ING. For me, it's hard to talk others into even considering it. Once they find out you have to share SSNs and bank information that's it! The red flags go up and stay up. Man!
It's a great deal and a great % rate. FDIC insured. Secure site. I love it. Haven't had any problems with it.
Most of the people I know are very skiddish to share any information over the internet and therefore are just not interested.
Have you had similar findings? It's frustrating because it really is a great way to save. I guess a lot of people have a fixed idea what banking should be. |

| As smaller banks get bought out by the bigger banks and branches start to close, I think this style of banking will be the future. Another online bank is Virtual Bank. You also get a $20 bonus IF YOU ARE REFERRED BY ANOTHER ACCOUNT HOLDER (like moi!) and then you get $20 for each referral that you get to sign up. Also pays 2.6% like ING but needs $100 to open the account. No fees but you will be assessed a fee if you close the account within 90 days. Send me a PM if you'd like more info. but first check out www.virtualbank.com |

I think virtual banking is the wave of the future too.
Has anyone had success with referrals, other than husband and kids? |

| Yes, I have. I was able to refer about 25 people over the course of last year and made $250! It was very easy and the people were eager to get their $25 bonuses, so it was a win - win situation. |

Good for you!! How did you do it? I let people know about the company, benefits (bonus start up), % rate, FDIC insured. To no avail.
I guess they just aren't ready. Maybe in time. |

| There was an ad in our local Sunday News for a small town bank. IF you have $25,000 sitting around, you could open a Money Market account and get a whole 2 1/4% interest. I just rip out that article and show it to my friends. I tell them they can get 2.6% with $1 minimum at ING and their eyes really open. Good way to get folks onboard. |
